An album that discusses gentrification, sexism and other abuses of power in its songs

Goal

There are many stories to be told about inequality and power abuse in the Netherlands. Music is a powerful tool to tell them; people really listen to songs. Sophie uses the crooner genre to do so. The genre has a history of uniting people over stories of heartbreak. Using its legacy is well-suited for conveying messages about contemporary common grievances.

Familiarize listeners with issues in Dutch society, and if they are already familiar with them: give them the emotional energy to address/keep adressing these issues in their own context
