Alicia

A documentary and impact campaign about having to grow up in child welfare services. A portrait of an institutionalized childhood.

Goal

The campaign wants to lay bare the transgenerational effects of emotional abandonment by parents and within youth care by telling the story of Alicia, a girl in Dutch Child Welfare, increasingly losing a perspective on a loving home.

By showcasing the despair and distress of Alicia's situation, people get to know how the Dutch Child Services operate, and how the system can be incredibly harmful to the children in it (Learning). Professionals take the raw emotions from the film into the discussion sessions that were organized as part of the campaign in hopes that the Dutch Child Services can transform for the better (Empowering).
